Draft Profile: Bio
Derrick Moore from St. Frances Academy High School was rated a 4-star recruit by ESPN and handed a 4-star grade by 247 Sports. After high school, Moore joined Michigan after being heavily recruited.

In 2022 as a freshman Moore saw action in 13 games and played a total of 212 snaps for the Wolverines. He recorded only 4 tackles, 2 assists, while adding 5 stops. As a pass rusher, he added 14 total pressures, which included 9 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and 2 sacks on the season.

As a sophomore for the Wolverines in 2023 Moore played in 14 games and took part in 373 snaps for the Wolverines. He recorded 20 tackles, 8 assists, while adding 21 stops. As a pass rusher, he chalked up 24 total pressures, and 16 QB hurries, 3 QB hits, and 5 sacks during the year.
Scouting Report: Strengths
  • His spin is his best move, tight and quick to the point that blockers don’t have time to react to it. His closing burst is outstanding.
  • Moore has the kind of turn-and-run fluidity to be used in man coverage as well, able to run with tight ends and running backs.
  • His fluidity and speed allow him to cover a lot of ground when dropping back into zone, and Moore is capable of turning and running with tight ends.
  • He has a lethal spin move and the pure speed to close quickly.
  • He locates the ball quickly, and he shows good instincts when dropping into zone coverage.
  • Moore is strong enough in the lower body to hold up at the point of attack, and he displays a good feel as a grappler in the phone booth, consistently getting blockers off-balance before sending them to the ground.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
  • Moore needs to do a better job using his hands as a pass rusher, as Moore too often gets neutralized by longer edge blockers.
  • Moore is in a hurry to get upfield but shows poor instincts when locating the ball against the run.
  • Is still a bit raw as a pass rusher and needs to diversify his repertoire of pass-rush moves.

*Percentile Ranking in Player's Position Group (NFL Combine Historical Data): This percentile reflects how a player's specific statistics rank in comparison to historical performances at the NFL Combine, specifically within their position group. A higher percentile indicates a better performance. For instance, being in the 90th percentile for a particular stat means the player outperformed 90% of their peers in that category.

*Similarity Percentage: This percentage is calculated based on a comprehensive analysis of various factors, including height, weight, 40-yard dash times, on-field performance statistics, and overall player rating. The analysis is conducted against our database of draft prospects from 2021 to 2023. This similarity score helps in evaluating how closely a current prospect aligns with past prospects. It is important to note, however, that this score reflects similarities based on college production and attributes, and does not account for eventual success or performance in the NFL.
