Draft Profile: Bio
Quinshon Judkins began his football career at Pike Road High School, where he accumulated 4,220 yards and 67 touchdowns, earning MVP honors in the AHSAA 5A state championship game. Judkins joined Ole Miss as a 3-star recruit and quickly made an impact. In his freshman year in 2022, he rushed for 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns, earning the SEC Freshman of the Year award.
During his two seasons at Ole Miss, Judkins amassed 2,725 rushing yards and 31 touchdowns over 26 games. He recorded back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons and was the first SEC player since Herschel Walker to achieve 15 or more rushing touchdowns in his first two seasons. Judkins earned first-team All-SEC honors in both 2022 and 2023 and had multiple standout performances, including a career-high 214 yards against Arkansas.
In January 2024, Judkins transferred to Ohio State, bringing his talent and experience to the Buckeyes. At Ohio State, he aims to continue his impressive college career and further enhance his stats.
Scouting Report: Strengths
- Excellent at sidestepping tacklers and using defenders' momentum to his advantage.
- Strong initial burst, capable of quick acceleration from a traditional setup or shotgun formation.
- Remarkable contact balance, making it difficult for defenders to bring him down on first contact.
- Proven track record of production with back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons in the SEC.
- Versatile in running schemes and effective in catch-and-run situations.
- Displays good patience and quickness, effectively maximizing his blocks.
- Effective downhill runner with good size and strength for the position.
- Excellent vision and ability to pick his holes and get to the second level quickly.
Scouting Report: Weaknesses
- Limited impact in pass protection, often using poor technique in cut blocking.
- Lacks elite top-end speed to consistently outrun defenders.
- Can sometimes be impatient, not allowing his blocks to fully develop.
- Struggled with consistency in his second season, facing loaded defensive boxes.
- Had occasional issues with playing speed, appearing less explosive at times in 2023.
Scouting Report: Summary
Quinshon Judkins showcases an impressive power running style with excellent contact balance, making him a tough tackle for defenders. His proven track record in the SEC highlights his ability to produce against top competition. Judkins excels in downhill running, showing good vision and burst through the line, making him a reliable option in short-yardage and goal-line situations.
However, Judkins needs to improve his pass protection skills, as his current technique may limit his effectiveness on passing downs. While he possesses good speed, it isn't elite, which may impact his ability to outrun NFL defenders. His impatience in allowing blocks to develop can sometimes hinder his effectiveness, a nuance that needs refinement for the next level.
Overall, Judkins has the potential to be a solid addition to an NFL backfield, particularly for teams seeking a physical, between-the-tackles runner. If he can enhance his pass protection and patience, he could become a standout player.
